1:20 AM Friday, January 8, 1999
Well, that MiniDisc recorder is getting some use finally. I'm recording pertinant songs for my Thelonius Monk class, like the songs to be compared for homework, or songs to be familiarized with for this week. Oh, and I'm still trying to record lectures too, but I'm having trouble with the mike.
11:22 AM Thursday, January 14, 1999
Online resume is done and up. Spent last night at the library enjoying the high speed of ethernet again. Also watched a movie on Thelonius Monk for class. Cool cat.
2:40 PM Friday, January 15, 1999
Stayed up really early this morning and didn't do any laundry likeI had planned. Contemplating laundry, Super Just Games, Shakespeare in Love, or something completely different for tonight.
7:11 PM Saturday, January 16, 1999
A clean kitchen floor. A clean kitchen sink, but still no clean clothes. I'm just putting it off more and more. And it was supposedly a really niceday outside today, but I neglected to step outside, so that's just second information for myself.
7:52 PM Saturday, January 16, 1999
I seem to have lost the begining of January and the End of December from my site. Fixing these problems sure beats doing laundry or homework. Tomorrow Dave Morse and I are going to the Green Mill do to some homework, for Jazz class.
1:00 AM Monday, January 18, 1999
Pete Miller's Steakhouse tonight, 7:30pm. It was the trio, grad student at NU in Jazz. It was homework. Had Ultimate outside, which was surprisingly nice to stretch the legs.
8:51 PM Tuesday, January 19, 1999
Well, Tomorrow's hump day, and I've got homework due. Besides that, I'm still trying to get all the things I need to graduate. I've got a bum knee that I'm trying to rest for the week. Other than that, same old same old, classes and life.
2:12 AM Friday, January 22, 1999
Went grocery shopping in order to have dinner this evening. Going to Sam'sClub tomorrow. Still waiting on the swelling to completely go away on the knee. Need to shave.
11:58 PM Friday, January 22, 1999
Ridge Warren is full of food. My room's a mess, I still have to do mywhites for laundry, but life is good. I'm tired and going to bed. Thenknee is still not well.
2:33 AM Sunday, January 24, 1999
A dinner at Trio, a show at Shanley, a wonderful evening with a wonderfulperson. Tonight was a good night. Tomorrow marks the start of intramuralswith Schizz basketball. Hope the knee holds up.
11:39 PM Sunday, January 24, 1999
Productive day was speaking with the family and watching the Royal Rumble. No Quad basketball game today, cancelled due to fencing match. Hopefully, first Vomit Monkey Floor Hockey game tomorrow. And simple bursitis of the quadracept explanation for the swollen knee.
2:10 AM Tuesday, January 26, 1999
I'm back up and running, one goal and defense in Vomit Monkey Floor Hockey and helping out with Ghoti practice. Dinner went well, Swiss Steak with mashed potatoes, a nice 2 hour cooking time meal.
5:00 AM Wednesday, January 27, 1999
I did some work today, but also took a nap, made it out to visit the plex boys, and a trip to Omegas. Not bad, but not good. Time is wasting. Since there isn't CEDS floor hockey tomorrow, I plan on giving blood before Monk.
9:57 AM Thursday, January 28, 1999
About 12 hours of sleep last night. It makes up for the lack of sleep this week. Also it's recovery time for being active athletically. And I thoughtI was coming down with something, so I'm trying to be smart about it. Lots of OJ.
7:50 AM Friday, January 29, 1999
I gave blood on wednesday, that might also explain the 12 hour sleep sessionthat proved necessary the night before this morning. Going to see the Promise Ring, a Milwaukee band, at the Empty Bottle tonight at 10pm, with Case and co. After practice tomorrow, I get to return the old powerbook to my brother.
12:14 PM Sunday, January 31, 1999
I played around 4 hours of ultimate today, or at least practiced for that long. It was such a glorious day, thank God I didn't waste it inside for once. AFterward, had dinner and watched French Twist on video.
4:17 AM Wednesday, February 3, 1999
I missed Fox Thing in the Morning walking around Woodstock, but I'll bethere soon enough. After a midterm, a auditing of my degree, and afloor hockey game today, I'm going home. I'll be back tomorrow hopefullyfor lunch.
1:51 PM Friday, February 5, 1999
Yesterday was Karl's birthday. Yesterday I had an interview with UPSabout a Tech Support Job. Basically, as Jess pointed out, it was forbeing a ResCon for adults. Then some grocery shopping and ultimate.Today is classes and dishes and dinner out, and, readersare invited to as well, a tropical party at 1140 W. Diversey.
10:24 PM Sunday, February 7, 1999
Days run away, time runs out. Jazz Midterm on Wednesday. Tournament this weekend. Homework and other things. Piling on.
8:45 PM Monday, February 8, 1999
Well, a couple days before the review is due, I'm finally finishing up my Jazz homework by going to the Green Dolphin to listen to some instrumentaljazz. Beats studying. And it really is homework.
7:16 PM Tuesday, February 9, 1999
After some jazz last night, Karl and I stopped at a Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins heaven on earth joint location, and got milkshakes, I settled for a mint chocolate chip one and a dozen different donuts and a coffee roll for the trip home.
11:13 PM Wednesday, February 10, 1999
After finishing up midterms, I've got nothing pressing to do. There is that unfinished class from last quarter. There's also lots of other things, like cleaning bedrooms and bathrooms and kitchen floors. Oh the choices.
1:58 AM Friday, February 12, 1999
It was a real day off. I relaxed, put NackInTouch in its proper place and semi cleaned the room. Leaving tomorrow for Arctic Vogue in Cincinnati tomorrow. I'll be gone the whole weekend playing good ultimate in somewhat frigid conditions. And so begins the 1999 ultimate year for me.
1:39 PM Monday, February 15, 1999
Came back from Cincinnati's Arctic Vogue. Vomit Monkeys went 3-2, advancing to the 2nd day in the 'A' Bracket. We played alright, but it's just the tip of the iceberg. I didn't get to drive because Puck got a flat tire on friday, so that gets checked out tomorrow.More of the same this week, Floor Hockey, Ultimate, and School.
2:15 AM Wednesday, February 17, 1999
Happy Birthdays to Brian Shaw and Jenny Pope and Michael Jordan. Nothing too interesting in store for me today. More of the same. I need to do laundry, maybe tomorrow, and get some new shoes.
6:21 PM Thursday, February 18, 1999
Birthday comes and goes, and 22 years have passed. Laundry continues to pile up, car continues to be driven with a spare, and the room continues to be filthy. Happy Birthday to Dad today! Thanks for all the birthday wishes from those who said hello, especially team members of Ghoti. BTW, it's only 8 pairs of khakis.
6:35 PM Friday, February 19, 1999
Davis Street Fish Market. Meeeow Show. Party at Luke's. Should be a good night. 6 hours of ultimate tomorrow.
3:38 AM Sunday, February 21, 1999
Spent with the boys, listening to some Jazz at the Green Mill, and drinkingsome cocktails and cider while watching movies. A good time, after all.
2:00 AM Monday, February 22, 1999
Would you believe it, I'm actually working on completing the incomplete from last quarter. Other than that, quad lost again, I ate at Yesterday's for the first time ever, and did some laundry, but not at an all night laundromat. Tomorrow going grocery shopping for Ridge Warren. And Vomit monkey Floor hockey.
2:16 AM Tuesday, February 23, 1999
Registration today at 2pm. Going for Tuesday Thursday. Shooting for Art, Databases, and Web Project. Lost in floor hockey, got killed 11-1. played some ultimate, and worked out my schedule.
1:00 AM Wednesday, February 24, 1999
Semi official schedule:
  • Essentials of Design TTH 9-12am.
  • Intro to Computer Graphics TTH 4-5:30pm
  • Practicum in Informational Systems W 2-5pm
Hopefully I can add into Intro to Databases TTh 1-2:30pm and not have to take Computer Graphics. Oh, and I finally fixed the flat on Puck, and actually had to get 2 new tires which are on the front.
4:45 PM Thursday, February 25, 1999
Flu, I think. Went and saw Varsity Blues last night. Slept a lot. Will continue to sleep a lot.
2:56 PM Tuesday, March 2, 1999
I think I've finally kicked this illness. All that's left is the draining of the sinuses. It's the end of the quarter, projects and timelines come due. And I'm going to Georgia for Spring Break.
5:14 PM Thursday, March 4, 1999
I think I'm sick, again. A relapse maybe. So the basketball and ultimate practice and floor hockey probably wasn't such a good idea. Still resting a lot, trying to sleep if I'm not coughing. Hard to believe the quarter ends tomorrow.
5:20 PM Friday, March 5, 1999
Another tournament, this time in Bloomington, IN. Should be aninteresting weekend, playing fairly shorthanded, around 9 or soplayers. Got some NyQuil last night, some Vicks 44D this afternoon,so I should be all ready to play by tomorrow.
10:29 AM Monday, March 8, 1999
The tourney didn't kill me; it actually made me feel better. Even though it's reading week, there's still lots to be done. This time it has to.
11:40 PM Monday, March 8, 1999
Lush Life tonight in a snowstorm, listened to some Brazilian Jazz sung by a dive, Neusa. Then some television, and now some sleep. Still sick.
1:53 PM Wednesday, March 10, 1999
Went to Pete Miller's last night for the Bobbi Broom Trio. Don't have to listen to Jazz for homework ever again; now it's just for fun. Feels like a relapse of the sickness, whatever it is.
11:56 PM Thursday, March 11, 1999
Writing my paper, listening to jazz, got that final tomorrow on TheloniousMonk who was one cool cat. Other than that, nothing too interesting. Planning on going to breakfast at Saga tomorrow. Might go home on Saturday.
1:00 PM Monday, March 15, 1999
Before you know it, it's close to my last spring break ever. I am this close to finishing up my incomplete from last quarter, and then all that's left is some presentation and completion of my www group project. And then on Friday, I leave for Terminus in Atlanta, then a week of fun and sun in Hilton Head, SC, and then hopefully Huck Finn in St. Louis before returningfor my last quarter of school.
2:49 AM Wednesday, March 17, 1999
The only thing left is a progress paper and a presentation for my web group project. And then winter is over.
10:15 PM Thursday, March 18, 1999
It officially started yesterday at 11 when I finished listening to the web presentations. But it starts in earnest tomorrow when I leave for Atlanta. Then the week in Hilton Head followed by a tourney in St. Louis.Oh, and I'm still sick.
10:00 PM Monday, March 29, 1999
Last Quarter, last spring break. The car is a little injured again. I played a lot of ultimate. The team went total 7-5 for spring break. Spent my first monday off relaxing with Jess.

The doses aren't quite daily anymore. I haven't decided whether or not to keep doing this or not. But in the meantime, expect absolutely nothing from this site.
Played in my last legit Big Chill. Scraped up my knees laying out on hard dirt at long field. Started Playing poker again, Pass the Trash and Followthe Queen are big winners among the new players. Got a big tournament this coming weekend. We're in the same pool at Carleton, Madison, and Oberlin. Wondering if I'll be coming back with a shaved head. Yesterday I went Philly for a second interview with SusquehannaPartners. Pretty cool. Still trying to catch up on sleep. Might be going home tonight.
1:23 AM Wednesday, April 7, 1999
Haven't slept more than 6 hours in a couple days. Really starting todrag me down. Might be going to Sam's Club either tonight or maybetomorrow night. Have a tourney in Ohio this weekend, playing with theBig Boys of College Ultimate. Finally cleaned the bathroom, at leastthe tub. Oh, and the room's getting cleaner. And I've got some moreThink Different Posters.
10:45 AM Friday, April 9, 1999
Tired and sore. Lots of ultimate practice, lots of running and sprinting. Good for the body. Going to classes and sleeping, or drawing and marking in ink. More downloads from the library yesterday. I'm leaving today for Oberlin, OH for an ultimate tourney. Got a hotel with a jacuzzi. That will be nice for Saturday night. Carleton's not going to be there, so I don't have to worry about shaving my head after we beat them. But some good teams to watch out for. I'm driving the Mini-van out there, about a 7 hour drive or so. I'll be back Sunday, and go home after that to see my parents.
11:28 AM Monday, April 19, 1999
Ultimate. This past weekend went 7-2, placing third in our section and advancing to Regionals next weekend. Before that just a week of classes, and showing up an 1 1/2 hours late to one class. But it's art. I saw the matrix again this past weekend. One thing I picked up this time was the useof what I will guess to be Fujitsu Stylistic 1200s for the computer getup that Tank was using. So more classes this week, and University of Illinois this weekend.
11:56 AM Thursday, April 22, 1999
With no updates, the hits keep coming. But more rain this rainy week, and more ultimate practice in cold weather. I grow weary. More rain is expected this weekend. I have yet to playin an IM Ultimate game. Every now and then I lapse and watch a couple hours of television, like last night when I saw something before Voyager and something else after that. Oh, and I've got some interview with WExcel, a computer consulting company downtown on Monday. Sounds pretty cool.
1:00 AM Tuesday, April 27, 1999
Had that interview today, with WExcel. It's a great company, small, different, better. Take what I've alwayswanted to do, what is a hobby, what I sometimes do for fun, and make itbillable, and that's what they do. It's incredible. I thought I'd eitherhave to wait a long time before getting my shot at a place like that, ormake a company up myself. So I liked them, I liked it. It's good. Andso is Chicago on a nice sunny day. I walked up Michigan Ave., almostspecifically to browse the Sony Store. They've got some great stuff tolook at. Like a 42" Gas Plasma Display, Flat TV. It's nice. Somedayto live in a place filled with Sony Consumer Electronics. And after Sonycame some browsing in a really big Borders. There's some really interestingScience Fiction books out there, like one about a 10 string nanostringvirus that turns rock into soup. And O'Reilly books have always kickedass. Got to get down to Chicago more often.
10:13 AM Monday, May 3, 1999
I went home last weekend, leaving Ridge Warren at noon, and arriving in Woodstock at around 3pm. I immediately got a haircut, and then picked some movies up. I figured I had three things to do this weekend
  1. see my parents
  2. send the old powerbook to Apple
  3. watch movies on a big screen TV
and I accomplished all three. So Friday night I saw Rush Hour and Pleasantville.I'm looking forward to getting the soundtrack to Pleasantville. Simpler music from a simpler age. Then Saturday night I went buck wild and got fourmovies and watched them starting with a matinee of Lost in Space finally, and going on a three run shot that night with Deep Impact, What Dreams May Come, and The Seige. I am also looking forward to the soundtrack from What Dreams May Come. Best movie of the weekend? What Dreams May Come hands down. So now my list of movies to see has dwindled just a little bit.
6:33 PM Monday, May 10, 1999
I have been offered and accepted a position as a software engineer at WExcel in downtown Chicago. I'm currently working part time until July, when I start full. It's a great job, it's a great opportunity, and I couldn't pass it up. And so today I learned to use Cold Fusion, a rapid web development system. And so the job search is over, and I move into the next step of growing up, finding a place to live. I've heard good things about Lincoln Park and also the Ravenswood brown line area. But it's got to be close to some public transportation, and riding the Metra or the El is going to be second nature soon enough. In other news, I finished up the second book I got from the library, and now am moving on to a third, Eric Von Lustbader's Angel Eyes, the same guy who brought us such thrillers as The Ninja and Floating City.
5:36 PM Wednesday, May 12, 1999
I've always been a big fan of soundtracks as a music source. I usually don't like a particular type of music for an extended period of time, and as movies tend to go through different moods, I get a nice range of music through Soundtracks. And recently I've been growing my collection. Over the past week or so, I've added Pleasantville, Dawson's Creek, Hackers, Lolita, The Matrix, Pi, Strange Days, What Dreams May Come, and When We Were Kings. I've actually exhausted my list of Soundtracks to get, so I think that's a good thing. In other audio news I downloaded lots of Ani DiFranco songs in mp3 format. I still don't know which album (or albums) to get of hers. Let me know of any suggestions. I'm on Secret Service Detail tonight for the President of ASG. Hope nothing goes wrong on that front. And I still have to find a place to live, but on the L ride backon the brown line there were some definite nice neighborhoods just north of the city. Hmmmm.
10:56 PM Wednesday, May 19, 1999
So today The Phantom Menace opened to mixed reviews. But I still haven't seen it, nor have tickets to go see it. The pressure just really isn't there yet. I'm planning on going Friday morningat McClurg downtown. I don't think the morning shows sell out. I'm tryingto get into a jockey ad for ultimate to appear in SI sometime. The Vomit Monkeys, or five of them, will get the chance to bear their boxers for the camera and get to watch college nationals this year in Boulder, CO. I've been going on a little too little sleep as of late, and maybe, just maybe it's starting to catch up with me. Work is work and I started looking at places to live, to really live, after school. I went down to Belmont for really my first time tonight with Jessica. I also played some pickup at Deering on this most glorious day. Saturday brings the annual Old vs. Young game of the Vomit Monkeys. Not really going to be a challenge, but when there's a crowd, it's more about showboating then absolutely demolishing the young whippersnappers.
11:42 AM Saturday, May 22, 1999
So I went yesterday morning to see the phantom menace, 10:15 am at McClurgCourt. There was already a line forming at 9am. Incredible! But it was no problem getting a ticket, and the theater was actually about 1/4 full or so. So to the movie itself, it's good, at least I think so when it's taken into consideration that it's part of a six film story arc. The foreknowledge of some things having seen Episodes Iv, V, and VI takes something away from Episode 1. But the cool thing is that the Jedi kick so much ass. Can't wait to see more of them. So another three years until the next one. That's a long time. I also saw Entrapment last night. Good movie, entertaining.I've got to spend more time downtown, especially since I'm working down therenow. Got to get to know the area, to know the places to go, the quiet places, and nice places, it's going to be good being in Chicago.
12:50 PM Wednesday, May 26, 1999
I met with a couple high school friends yesterday night; theymet me downtown with Jessica in tow for dinner and some Chicagoaction. We ate at Heaven on Seven, actually on Two, at 600 N.Michigan Ave. It was pretty good. They, James and Case, madefun of the crawfish I had for dinner. We went searching forice cream but got lost at the Big Borders across from Water TowerPlace. We finally got some Baskin Robbins back up in Evanston, and I settled for the Mint Chocolate Chip/Strawberry CheesecakeDouble scoop. I played some more ultimate today, IM's, on Shelly'sand Jessica's team. This thursday I'll have to play against themas the finals for Co-ed IM ultimate is ISP vs. Jaundice. There'salso a captains' meeting for CUSLthis thursday at Schuba's. I've started reading some more Gibson, currently Burning Chrome, a collection of short storiesincluding Johnny Mnemonic.
4:48 PM Friday, May 28, 1999
Another 'Dillo Day weekend at NU, another weekend at Centrals in Kalamazoo, MI. So that's where I'm headed this weekend, with the team known there as We Bop Drums, which isn't a permanent name. It's the team formerly known as Godzilla. Then on Monday starts off CUSL and my status as captain for the second summer. I finally got my captain's t-shirt from last year at the meeting yesterday, which was cool. Tonight I'm going to go to a Cake concert, instead of parties in preparation for 'dillo day. I figure why not.
3:26 AM Saturday, May 29, 1999
Crazy days. The Cake concert went well. A pretty good mix of old and new, but I'm still waiting for either Mr. Mastodon or I bombed Korea. After that was a drop in on the Lizard Bash at Sig Ep, which turned out to be a bust since JT was a little ill so I didn't get a chance to see him, nor did I see Jessica or Shelly there.I then chilled with Monica, Eddie, and Luke and Aaron from the NU ultimate scene. We had some BK and planned on going to Dueces until a certain asian stopped feeling good. So we just sat and talked at Monica's place for a bit. I'm leaving for Kalamazoo in approximately 3 hours, so I shouldstart packing.
1:33 AM Monday, May 31, 1999
A good weekend out in the sun, with the Chicago Area Team known atCentrals at We Bop Drums. Played a lot of ultimate, good ultimate, with some good people. And it was hot in Kalamazoo, MI. Good andhot and sunny. I tried to work on my tan, but it just didn't seemto make me that dark. I camped out with Jeremy and Marc and BillySaturday night. First time camping in a really really long time.It was nice. The all nighter from the previous night killed me early,so i got plenty of sleep. But overall, a good weekend of ultimateand fun.
6:43 AM Wednesday, June 2, 1999
Summer League kicked off in earnest on Monday at the Annual Memorial Day Hat tourney. The weather was alright, not quite as nice as the weekend preceeding, but hot. My team went 2-1, respectable, before losing to a team with LeShane, Kuchinski, and Peyton. Tiphanie and I also have an official team number for CUSL season, we are Team 15. Maybe this year I can get around to making a web page for the team before the season ends. So my 4 year stint at Northwestern is coming to a close. I've got less than three weeks leftnow. I've got a project due in about 7 hours or so. I've got an assignment due Friday, but since I'll be in Tucson then, I've got to get it in before 5pm on Thursday. And then the following Monday is my last school related event, at least academic event, a final.
4:00 PM Friday, June 4, 1999
I'm currently at the University of Arizona Computing and Technology Store, typing this up on an SGI 320 Visual Workstation. Made the flight alright last night, I've got homework due in less than an hour, and I'm in Tucson. It's nice that they have internet access here available, for pretty much free. They've also got a pretty nice Apple display set up; Emate, imacs, G3's. There's a chance Dave, Karl, Karl's cousin Margot, and I could go to Mexico this weekend. Interesting.
5:00 PM Saturday, June 5, 1999
We spent the whole day with Karl's high school friend Julie. We went to Sabino Canyon in Sunny Tucson for a hike and a tram ride. It was nice. Last night we went to a couple bars. It's definitely a college town here in Tucson, not like Evanston at all. This is being typed from a computer in the University of Arizona's Student Union. Tonight we plan on doing some more bar hopping clubbing, followed by some studying for Karl and me tomorrow. We sat outside on the football field today, enjoyingthe freedom to relax on the grass field. Nice to be at a college that letsyou do that.
3:22 PM Monday, June 7, 1999
Summer League really kicks off today in the oppressive heat and humidity of Chicago. Team 15 has their first game down in Jackson Park, field 3, and lucky us we get to be dark. We're playing team 4.Should be good. In other news, all I've got left is a late assignment, which I should be working on. Pretty much just a java GUI front end to a database. Should be interesting. Getting home from Arizona was a blast last night. We got on the plane at 2:20pm PST, 4:20pm CST, and arrived at ORD at 11:30pm CST. Quite a ride. We made an unscheduled visit to Kansas City to refuel while waiting for the vicious thunderstorms barring our arrival at O'Hare to quiet down. But we finally made it, and everything was good.
7:36 PM Tuesday, June 8, 1999
Puck is back. After a month and a half long hiatus, I am with car again.I did some shopping today, got myself a new pair of cleats, my first Kelme pair. They're supposedly the widest cleats out there. I also got some tan or grey soccer socks, but I didn't find my silver jersey yet. I also got some more Hanes t-shirts, as well as another oil latern and some Citronella Oil and some bug repellent in preparation for late summer league games. I was tempted to buy BBQ and a tent, but I'll hold off on those purchases till later. I'm thinking about getting into fishing again,I remember the days of hooking worms and casting bobbers far into Lake Vermillion up in Minnesota. Thanks Walls. So maybe after these fast pacedcollege years slow down, a fishing pole and hat could be ideal companions to my slower life.
10:38 AM Thursday, June 10, 1999
I think I hurt myself at Summer League last night. Something about my left gluteus maximus, just doesn't feel right. But in other news, I've still got this assignment to get finished, and then I'm really done. There might be poker at my place tonight, the last time as a college student, but I've only got a couple people interested so far, just Ben and Nate. It's warm out and staying that way. It's nice to have the car back and driving. I also really need to do some laundry. My new cleatsdid work pretty well. The team doesn't quite have a name yet, but we'rehaving fun.
9:19 PM Saturday, June 12, 1999
School is officially over for me. No more programs for grades, no more readings, no more art due by Tuesday, no more discussion sections, no more exams or finals. Learning by a deadline is no more. Now it is about production. I have to use what I've learned, and make things, and do things. And NU has done a pretty good job I believe. I graduate in a week. I wrote my first 1000 line program in Java this past week. It's pretty cool. I've got to start packing up my room, my home for the last year, and put it in boxes, to wait for the summer, before moving into the new home. And so things end, and other stuff start. Also means it's time for my homepage to change its face once again.Sometime I'll have version 5.0 up and running.
3:30 AM Monday, June 14, 1999
A night of Gluttony, the start of the end. Karl, Dave, and I went toMerle's and had a Barnyard Platter. After that we got some Ben & Jerry'sor Haagen-Daaz, a pint each, and watched some movies. I got 240% of mydaily saturated fat from a pint of Haagen Daaz Cookie Dough Chip. Oh,and interspersed throughout the movies were shots of really bad JoseCuervo Silver Tequila, no lime or salt. So that was the first day ofSenior Week.
3:58 PM Tuesday, June 15, 1999
Karl, Dave and I went to Aura for the Senior Class Club night last night. Interesting. Karl disappeared early in the night, only to appear periodically throughout the night with a short asian girl on his hip. And today was the freshman dorm reunion at Shepard, a return to the lonely 2nd floor freshmen. So graduation edges closer and closer. I've got a suitcase to buy, but I finally got some checks in the account, but there's more in preparation for vacation, and moving. Onward. Tonight is the formal at Navy Pier with one beautiful Jessica Kuchinski.
10:23 AM Thursday, June 17, 1999
The Formal went well Tuesday night. Jess and I followed it up with a stop at the Green Mill for a bit, before retiring. Wednesday brought some shopping for me, a new suitcase for the upcoming vacation, some shirts, and a pair of non-khaki pants. I missed out on the Senior BBQ last night but made it to Last Lecture by Prof. Bailey at the Keg, my first visit there. Then I had dinner, Macaroni and Cheese, back at Ridge Warren, and then bedtime. Today is laundry, and packing, and other random stuff as my last days in Ridge Warren draw to a close. Saturday will be my last day here at my place of residence for the past 12 months. It's been interesting to say the least. Also yesterday I picked up my cap and gown, and splurged for the souvenier tassel. So I did pass all my classes, and I'm graduating with a degree and a minor.

Another night of good food and friends. Karl, Dave and I went to Pete Miller's for good steak. It was good. I did laundry this morning, and started packing up my stuff. I've almost got everything out of the closet.I still have to move it all to my sublet for the summer, to which I don't have keys yet for. Tomorrow brings more packing and moving, and maybe a commencement, or maybe not. There's a lot to pack up here from Ridge Warren. Maybe I'll come back Sunday and move the rest of the stuff over. But I have this craving for Super Just Games after playing a round of Time Crisis 2 and a round of Police Trainer at Last Lecture. Something about a shooting video game.

Like a cylinder, as Jess told me. So I've got a degree, and a job. And a girlfriend. And a computer. So I'm no longer a Northwestern Student.I also moved out of Ridge Warren Friday and Saturday, and going on vacation for a couple weeks before returning to live for the summer in Evanston before moving into my new place. I'm getting sick, feels like the flu, or something. I'm pretty sore from moving out. And my butt, it's not a pulled gluteus max, but more like an upper hamstring problem, but I'm contemplating not playing Club this year, and let myself rest. I would continue to play summer league and captain team 15 to victory, but easing up on Ultimate to increase my longivity in the sport is a good idea. And so this is most likely my last post in this forum. The web page will most likely change in the next two weeks. It's been a good year, full of life and experiences.
3:31 PM Tuesday, July 6, 1999
So I didn't design a new personal home page in the past two weeks. A revised schedule places that at the end of the summer, maybe even as late as October. So this will be a year of Daily Dose.

Vacation was good, relaxing and busy. All sorts of stuff to see. And now I'm back, working, living in Evanston, playing with my girl and the dog she's dogsitting. I'm still injured, it seems to be a possible pulled origin of the hamstring, or something, but it's a pull, so that means I'm pulling out of any competative ultimate for the summer and fall. I'd like to keep playing for a while in the future. And I've got plans for the next 8 weekends, so it's a busy summer ahead of me. I'm pretty tan, so I don't have to work on that ever again, but the thrill of coloring the hair is coming back, so possible bleaching, highlighting, or coloring maybe in my near future.

9-5, at least when the alarm clock works. But my first week of work is almost done. I only wish I could get more sleep at night. Too busy with things to get to bed early. Actually, just playing with a dog, Gus. Especially playing with Gus and his rope toy. I think it brings out the coyote in him, working on tearing flesh from bones, because rope has that consistency of muscle tissue, at least I think so. I still haven't completely figured out the 'el' yet. I'm sure there's so many tips and secrets to efficiently get around downtown that I'll spend my working career trying to find them all out. This weekend brings the Great Circus Parade up in Milwaukee and also Bastille Days in the same city. It should be fun.
11:00 PM Tuesday, July 13, 1999
Guess who's not playing ultimate but watching much too much ultimate? Me, that's who. So last weekend was not spent doing free stuff in Milwaukee, it was doing free stuff chez Unverzagt. No cirCUS, no Bastille days. But a day on the boat, some time in the water, and some chicken. But anyway, team 15 won their first game on monday. This weekend is going to be spent at home, with hopefully a visit to Dr. Rochelle for a checkup of that injury.Daily updates becoming so much less daily when the boss is working just behind my left shoulder.
9:40 AM Thursday, July 15, 1999
I'm going to see American Pie tonight, and the only thing I've heard is that one of the characters from Buffy has a really out of character line toward the end. I think it's Willow. Should be interesting. And this weekend at home means more movies than I can count on one hand. I'm interested in watching Blue again. What a great movie. But other than that, maybe some big budget blockbusters, or something quiet and intellectual, or maybe finally In the Company of Men. I'll find out when I step into Dollar Video to make my choices.
8:25 PM Saturday, July 17, 1999
Well, a somewhat productive day at home. Not really at home, but while Iwent home for the weekend. I got my butt checked out, and it appearsto be just a pulled hamstring, but other than that, don't know whatelse. If the pain continues, I might get an MRI. I got a haircut, but I'm trying to grow it out a little, just for fun. Did some shoppingwith the parents, which was good. Ate some food, also good. And nowgoing to watch some movies and eat some ice cream. Good, Good, and Good.On the way home from e-town on yesterday, I took the challenge and gotthe 64 oz. Slurpee from 7-11. Got about 2/3 done, and just couldn'tfinish it. Too much Slurpee, even for me.
7:41 PM Friday, July 23, 1999
So what's been the news for the past week? I stepped down as CUSL co-captain of Team 15. I keep working. I spend time with my girlfriend. I only saw two movies last weekend, one of which I forgot. Oh, and Jess helped bleach my hair, I now have highlights that are brown, orange, some lighter color than black. I'm going to see Richard III at Shakespeareon the Green tomorrow night, 8pm, at Barat College. That's pretty much it.
1:00 PM Monday, July 26, 1999
For young Shelly Peyton, check out Musingsfor your dedication. For Wise and Old Biz, check back later for your own.

Richard III was good on Saturday, as was the trip to Denny's following. It was a good weekend, plenty of fun and love. But the week starts again, and work begins in earnest. I'm going to take the step up in sandal footware, and move past the $11 Target cork things and get a pair of Birks. I'm planning on the 3 strap Milanos. Classic. And I've always dreamed of a pair. The other plans on the horizon is a weekend in Nashville. That should be good.

2:31 PM Tuesday, July 27, 1999
Kate, go check out yours, and once again, my sweet, yours is coming

I've finally invested, I got a pair of Birkenstocks last night, brown leather Milanos. Standard, Classic, friends have had them for years. So I'm a little late, oh well. Not starts the fun part of breaking them in. I got some money back from Parliment Enterprises, part of my Security Deposit from Ridge Warren. That was most pleasant. Other than that, I've finished book 2 of the Neuromancer Trilogy, and now have to get myself Mona Lisa Overdrive, which will make a whole lot more sense the second time around. I'd like to read the Ender Wiggan Tale again, Ender's Game along with Xenocide, Speaker of the Dead, and all those others. Good, fastread books. Good for the 'el'.

3:00 PM Friday, July 30, 1999
Leaving for Nashville tonight. And so ends July. August begins anew on Sunday. Time to start exercising again, some running, some crunches, some push ups. And what else does it mean? The end of summer, but it certainly doesn't feel like it. The heat is unbearable here in Chicago, approaching or passing 100 today. I'm currently downloading Oracle 8i for Linux. That should be a good backend for Chez Esso, or is it Casa Esso. But I get ahead of myself.
9:48 AM Monday, August 2, 1999
Nashville was good. Thanks to the Kuchinskis. I like sleeping in air conditioning. Saw The Blair Witch Project (http://www.blairwitch.com). Scary ass movie. Not the movie, but the movie. It stays, it sticks, it haunts the mind. Recommended. No problems driving the 16 hours this weekend. Felt good to get out on the open road again. Puck is now up above 40k. Got some Krispy Kreme Donuts for the ride back. Much too much, so I've got breakfast for the rest of the week. Ummm, glazed Krispy Kremes. Ummmm.
12:44 PM Wednesday, August 4, 1999
So I like the movie. I like the idea. I read about it on the web, is thatso wrong? Anyway, yesterday went to see my new place, I'm leaning toward Casa Esso, but I'm still open to suggestions, and took a look around. It's a little bit off the 'el', but that's alright, at least while it's warm out. It's got nice windows. I checked out outlets, in preparation for wiring the place for Networking of some sort. I also did some online searching for wireless products as well. Maybe. Tonight going to pick Jess up from her interview and go out on a date. Tomorrow going to go with on a kickoff meeting for a project at work. And going home Friday. I'm not reading anything right now, I'm currently working on my personaldatabase, but I'll start up again when I pick up the rest of the Ender Wiggin Series from the library.
11:49 AM Monday, August 9, 1999
So I update the page a little bit with some 4.0 browser required code. It was cool, I thought, giving current date and time, updated dynamically. But to maintain older browser compatibility, I've returned to the previousways. News for me? Casa D'Esso is painted, and awaiting carpet around the 16th of August. I'm thinking of how to get it wired with Category 5 Cable as well as speaker cabling. I'm also thinking of Home Automation using X10, of which there are various Linux controlling software available. This would include all lights, sound system using mp3's, coffee machines, drapes or blinds, and anything else I can think off. Maybe a prolific use of motion sensors to figure out entering and leaving rooms? Besides that, saw an old friend on friday, went home. Went running again, reading the nationals commentary makes me want to play ultimate again. Really want to play. And last night, another trip to Omegas, and another Denver Omelette, which is also going to be lunch today. There is the National Poetry Slam in Chicago all this week, and Cooler and Kate's house this weekend. Oh, and the Wisconsin State Fair.
10:00 AM Wednesday, August 11, 1999
I went to my first sort of Poetry Slam, more reading than competition. Itwas cool. the National Poetry Slam is in Chicago this week, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and the Finals I think on on Saturday. After that went and got some late night mexican, which suprisingly left me very hungry this morning. I'm already looking forward to a mini-steak burrito from the Buggy for lunch, maybe I'll even get a grande. I got a phone number for my new place, but I won't really be there for a while. I've also tried to get cable service, but I need to send in more information. Maybe I'll go to Casa D'Esso tonight. I'm supposed to get it all wired by next monday. I don't think that's going to happen.
9:58 AM Friday, August 13, 1999
It's my new favorite song, listening to it all the time. That and Summer Girls by LFO, but I haven't been able to find it yet. Almost worth it to purchase and make my own. But tonight, going to see the semifinals of the National Poetry Slam at the Note. Most likely going to see it all, from the start to the end of the individual competitions. Should be good. Then leaving tomorrow to watch some quality club ultimate at Cooler in beautiful Delafield, WI. Then sunday, Jess and I get to stay at Casa d'Esso. I get to lay some cable down, and lay it out before the carpet goes in.
11:47 AM Monday, August 16, 1999
Maybe a new name, for a different place. But slept there for the first time last night. Took my first shower there. Where I will live for a while. Don't think it'll be home, yet, or ever. Weekend was good, never made it out to see some of the National Poetry Slam competition, logistics didn't work out, but saw some good ultimate, dove into a swimming pool, ate some brats, got some sun. Good weekend I think. Wonder who won? But a night of fluffy pillows on Wednesday. Some fall league action on Saturday, and some suburb driving on Sunday. All this week I'll probably be bringing stuff down to the 'Bando Condo. I'll aim to have most of it done by the weekend. Oh, yeah, and some clubbing on Friday. So that's it for the week.
9:41 AM Tuesday, August 17, 1999
Sony now returns to putting out their magazine, Sony Style, and I'm going to be first to subscribe. In other magazine news, I finally plan on subscribing to that wacky English Technology mag, T3. Also I learned that there's a bookon the Sony Design group, which I will have to pick up eventually. And moving will start tonight to the 'Bando Condo.
10:29 AM Monday, August 23, 1999
Goodbye Karl, and good luck in Charleston, SC. I went out with Bender, Springer, and Karl for Karl's last night in Chicago. 22 1/2 years later, he leaves the city that raised him. So no Circus that night, Bender and I wore sandals, but some bars, and some drinking. Saturday was fall pickup kickoff day out at Schiller. It was fun, although the pain there made me decide not to play at all for the fall season. Yesterday was driving around Chicago Suburbs helping Jessica look for a place to live. I never knew Lombard is closer to Chicago than Woodstock. You learn something new every day. More this week: finish moving into the Abando Condo by Wednesday, possibly living there starting this week. And still working.
