6+ won our last summer league season game last night, playing with only 8 players, with our women once again playing savage. Not bad. Way to end the season on a winning streak. All that's left is some game on Wednesday up at foster, and the tournament this saturday out in Naperville. Got some Krispy Kremes last night, brought them in today, my last day of work. Tonight going to see Legally Blonde and dinner at Iberico.

The Tea & Strumpets 2001 tour took a stop in Chicago for the Sandblast tournament this past weekend. We did alright, coming up 3 or 4 seeds up to 7 or 8th place, beating Sarlacc in our last game of the day on sunday. Once again we looked sweet in our rain and lemon peel jerseys. Beach ultimate if fun, but very tiring, as I am very sore today. Last week of Summer league, last days of work, end of July.

Dinner at Duke of Perth, DVDs and PS2 afterwards from me and my friends. Simple Pleasures. This weekend though, Sandblast, Beach Tourney, Montrose Beach. I'm playing with a Tea & Strumpets Reunion Squad. Definitely going to be a good time.

Whoa. Another win by 6+ last night. Too much zone. Not enough Raz. Dinner at the Pub. Good burger. New Cake, which I'm listening to now, Nelly and Nelly Furtado, were waiting for me when I got home. Ripped them, brought them with me in the car. It's been a while since I've gotten new music. Nelly Furtado is pretty good. Bumpin', as some friends would say. More practice this afternoon, and the Sandblast this weekend.

Saw that tonight, after practice. Animation was absolutely wonderful. The voice work was well done. Storyline was okay, a little cliched, a little too hokey, too kid bedtime story type. But the visuals, oh man, the visuals. Very very good looking everything. My only complaint? Voice being out of something with the visuals. It didn't sound like it looked. Or it didn't look like it sounded. To much like a dubbed movie. But still, some amazing things to see, all done by a computer.

Team 24 squeaks out another win, 15-14 at the buzzer. Good thing we were light, or else there would have been no chance of seeing our teammates on the field. And after our win was a celebration at John and David's, a BBQ with brats and other good stuff, and some prep talk about future ultimate endeavors, and watermelon. Tomorrow is practice and a movie, probably Final Fantasy at City North.

Back after a long weekend away in the very bad state. Anyway, Union Crew went 1-3 to a 5-8th place showing at Mason Dixon. Highlights not related to ultimate include continued Olive Garden Fun, Holidome fun, Top scorer in a downhill mountain bike video game in Raz, a luke warm hot tub, and a 3:11am fire alarm. What follows this week is ultimate, and more ultimate, with summer league, practice, summer league, practice, and beach tournament this weekend, up at montrose beach. So more details on Mason Dixon: We flew in late on Friday night, made it to the Holiday Inn with 10 minutes to spare in the luke warm hot tub in the Holidome. Saturday morning, after I didn't get enough sleep due to Bigger and Blacker being on HBO the night before, saw us take a drubbing by Madison, mainly cause we weren't playing at all. Then came a burner with Burn where a 6 point swing the wrong way in the second half gave us our second loss of the day. Our third and final game we squared up against the Prairie Squids, some team from Memphis, when we finally decided to play again late in the second half and pulled out our win for the day, and moved up a seed in our pool. That night saw dinner at Olive Garden, nap time, Top Gun on NBC, Holidome Fun with Ping Pong and Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, and a fire alarm which went off at 3:11 am. Sunday brought a single point played against some team for a play in game to figure out if we stayed in the championship or moved down to the chumpionship. Then rain and lightning struck, postponing games for a good 2 hours or more. Then after cancelling the play in games, we moved on to face Big Ass Truck in the quarters. We started off playing in some rain, and then proceeded to throw this game away as well, thus ending our day. Whitney found us some pickup players for a pickup game, which I opted out of, and instead watched Deep Dish on their way to a tournament win, BAT bring it back against Burn in one of the semis. And then I went and saw Scary Movie 2, without having seen the first one, and then got on a plane and made my way home. Quite a weekend.

And it's summer. Headed to Lexington, KY for Maxon Dixon, an Ultimate tourney. Should be great, 90 and sunny, probably 100% humidity, hard ground fields, brown grass, no shade. Fun times. But flight leaves tonight, cheap, and thank God we're not driving. Otherwise, it's Friday. Some PSX, some Burrito Buggy, and some random Walgreens shopping for supplies for the weekend.

A good, laid back, fun practice today, although my dark team didn't do too well, losing the eventual game to 3, we did try some new things, some worked, some didn't. But I had fun. And then the dark team had some redemption by winning the games of Schtick. I think I'm finally getting the hang of it. And then I went to see JPIII. Roar. No plot. People on island, must survive. Fairly simple. My complaints? Not enough people dying. There just needs to be more carnage, more people ripped to shreds. The Spino vs. T-Rex was a pretty good battle, but then, who cares? Get a safari group out, with guns like those tested by the Mercs early in the movie, and maybe Range Rovers, or whatever company pays enough to be in the film, and have them chase down dinos. Throw in a predator on the same island. Find out what happens when Raptors meet a lion pride out on a Savanna. But I did enjoy the Aviary, which finally appeared in film form. I didn't enjoy the River scene as much, as the idea of a T-Rex looking like an alligator swimming through the water beats some wimpy sail like fin. But overall, a pretty good ride.

For those that are bored and wonder what I did for my senior year, you can now go back and look at my Daily Dose postings from that time period. There aren't that many, something like 10 months, 240 posts, and most of them are short. For me, I've got practice, and a possible viewing of JPIII if I don't fall asleep at practice.

6+ won our only northside game tonight. Women played savage, as usual, and very unlike monday. And after acting as 6+ chauffeur, I got caught in traffic on North LSD, and watched Above + Beyond, the Nationals videos from 2000 for Open and Women's divisions. Absolutely fabulous. The production values are very good, better than the previous year. I'm looking forward to the next year's version, and someday owning them on DVD. I can't wait to get a full Finals video on DVD with a commentary track from various players or personalities. Anyway, there is a killer greatest in the Open version, but the Women's version got me pumped up to play as well. One thing I noticed, players kept mentioning the track workouts they do as a team. Must be a nationals thing. Needs to be something unioncrew needs to do. But nice video work, catching some great hucks, puts, deep shots, good defensive layouts, reads, skies, and so on. All just gets me pumped up to play. Bring on Mason Dixon.

So while waiting for the cable guy to come and fix my connection, I watched the TechTV broadcast of Steve Jobs's Keynote from MacWorld. Nothing earth shattering, no "One more thing..." slides, no new pda/tablet/iMac form factor/iSoftware. No immediate 10.1 update. But it was cool being able to watch the keynote from my rocking chair set up in front of the TV. Oh, and Gran Tourismo 3 looks absolutely fabulous. Incredible.

While not at City North, I'll be heading to the movies anyway, this time to see Atlantis finally out at Webster. 7:05pm is the showing. So this is the first disney animated movie I've seen in the theatre since, well, since Hercules I believe, not counting Pixar movies. So it's been a while. So Atlantis doesn't have any songs or musical aspects. The animation, is, well, interesting. The characters seemed simply drawn, large lines, whereas the backgrounds and environments are richly detailed. The meeting with Whitmore and the aquarium for example: very nice work, but the character animation seemed a little out of place. But it all looked very good. Some great CGI stuff, nothing as bad as the Beauty and the Beast ballroom sequence, but still, you could tell when the Computers went to work: the big submarine's first dive, the climb to overlook the lost city. But I liked the look. And the action sequences were pretty good too. And what I keep telling people, lots of people actually died in the course of this Disney animated flick. Weird. But fairly standard story. Some humorous characters. The explosives guy had some good lines. Michael J. Fox has a very distinctive voice, as does John Mahoney. But overall, I liked it. And it had a preview for Monsters, Inc., which looks very good for thanksgiving.

Team 24 had yet another loss last night at the hands of Fritz's team. We did actually have 5 women there, so our women did not have to go savage, repeat, did not have to go savage. After that I finished up the end of Die Hard, saw the extended Cutting of Power sequence, did some more work on the applications, and went to bed.

2 days later, and I'm still reeling from Bastille Day at Hammerdown. Too much tequila, in too short of time. But a good time. The night started out simple enough, with an attempt to hold up my skills as a beer friz player, but that was broken up by the 5-0. But not before someone handed out invites to a Real World Party and Extra Casting event up the street. So a large group got together, walked the 6 or so blocks up to see a large, very numerous group of people blocking off North Ave, yelling and shouting at the Real World House. A good write up is at fengi.com. So that turned out to be a bust, so back to Hammerdown. At some point Kaz found out there's Tequila after I asked, and the shots come out to play. And after that, it's time to start dancing, since the music was pumping, and there's that nice little area in front of the stereo. Nice to get moving. Necessary to stay moving, to keep me from falling over. And then sometime later there was a "bet" made about landsharking, which I attempted, but the landshark did not fare well. Poor execution. But soon after I was ready for bed. So Bryan drove me home, and I fell asleep on my floor, in various places. Bastille Day.

After a very long hiatus, Daily Dose is back up and running. For those that weren't around back in the day, Daily Dose is a running commentary by me on my life. Intended Audience: mostly myself. This is a good way to keep track of what I do on a daily basis, and remember the little things that make life so good, that I often forget. People who end up reading it: friends. It's an easy way for people to keep track of what's going on in my life.
