a fine line, stealing, taking, just 1's and 0's, payment, means, air we breathe, websites we read, music we download. because it's there, because it's available, law and compensation be damned. of course it isn't right, but people seem not to know, and ignorance of the law is no excuse, but these things, well, how true is it? what difference between ripping a friend's CD's versus downloading the same CD via some file sharing service? it's the same process, just the scale, might be different, might be, but it's the same thing. yet, i feel better about a friend's CD's. i do that, and i don't download free music. but i'm stealing too. just not the same scale. and that's always the difference, right? some line needs to be crossed, some dollar amount to be exceeded, before it stops being a nuisance and turns into a crime. limited tolerance. huh.
