Dancing. I saw Tap Dogs tonight. Fun, energetic, cool. Industrial. It
reminded me of Stomp, back 4 years ago to when I saw it there with
Shepard. And then even furthur back with Marian to see Les Mis. But
I digress. Tap dancing, hardcore. These guys could have been 'N Sync.
Attractive, toned. Good dancers. There were two that stood out, not
necessarily for their tap technique, but because they had attitude.
One, the bleach blonde short guy seemed to be the leader's younger
brother. Like the kid who always hangs around, has to try and prove
himself to the older guys, and can and does. He had a little flair,
maybe it was arrogance, but it was visible and made him a character.
The other was the goatee and baseball cap guy, the troublemaker. He
was always enjoying things a little too much, in things to make himself
look good, and also lazy. At least that's how he seemed. Another
character. Those two were the ones I ended up watching. And the leader
didn't take control, like the show was supposed to, I think. He didn't
become the alpha. But interesting tap sets, different ways of presenting
it. Good stuff. Someday I will tap. But this also doesn't match the
style and grace of tap like Gene Kelley. |
