paradigm shifts. drastic changes in business methodology. how to give up an existing revenue stream, upon which a business is based, because the environment is changing. think xerox. unable to capture what PARC had to offer, because it was outside the breadbasket, and in the end, for a lot of people, money is the driving force of business. Doesn't really seem like Apple is that way anymore. drive the product, perfect the product, make something good. Actually, apple doesn't respond to the environment at all, but pushes it. or at least is the first to push it. but when do cellular companies realize they are just service providers and no more, or production/distribution of movie and television shows and music and books and comics understand the internet, or something else that i'm completely missing, when do they get it? after they go under? who has caught the next wave and rode it? which company has done it? hmmm, iMac, iPod, iPhone, ...?
