changing of the guard, slowly but surely, shirley, lee, things will be different, the way things used to be, the way things will be, but there's part that gets overlooked, that if how we get things changes, then how those things are made, the very things themselves, change as well. advertising supported media, to media on demand, where you start having to make best bang for the buck, even more so than now, but will that see the rise of venture capitalists for media creation? front the costs of creation, retain control of the product, and sell it? how much to just pay for a 22 hour movie and cut it up and sell it? Why bother having a tv production schedule if it's not going to be on TV? why bother having episodes at all? chapters, miniseries? any real need for seasons? tell ongoing stories that last forever? until the return isn't good enough anymore? when it stops selling? more like music and albums? completed sets, and if it sells, it sells, if not, oh well? what is the purpose of weekly episodes without advertising? |
