do artists, while in concert, enjoy the audience singing along? imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but still, does it ever get too obnoxious? it makes me think of Rock Star, but as i sit and watch unplugged with some group i don't know, and no matter which song they play, the audience, in perfect sync, in soft focus in the background, singing along, or just plain singing, and the artist, singing with his eyes closed, a monitor ear piece, and just playing and singing. does it piss him off, that everyone is singing so loudly that when he lowers his voice, he gets drowned out? or is that affirming, that the artist has connected that much with his audience, that they really truly feel the words, know the emotions, are the songs, become and believe in the whatever the singer/songwriter has woven?
[edit:] so i looked up who it was on unplugged, and it was Dashboard Confessionals, a former punk rocker who switched to ballads. and simple, acoustic guitar, some piano, some drums. good stuff. and he wants the audience to sing along. part of the schtick, part of the experience. he wants that. and it's really really cool.
