...so she turned her head to me, and i looked into those deep puppy dog eyes, and wept. she smiled, lifted my chin with a finger, and smiled again, and tears went away. amazing i thought, how could i be so lucky? she quickly slipped her hand in mine, and ran off, dragging me behind. where could she be taking me? through doors and down hallways, until we stepped outside into the brisk night. i wanted to ask her something, but she placed a finger to her lips and winked and nodded. it's all good. the moon's out, lighting things in that special way, covered in silver. a slight fog rolls over the ground, tendrils creeping around corners. sweet sweet child, where have you been, what ground has swallowed you up and taken you away? why has not your smile graced my eyes, why has not your voice perked my ears, or that twinkle in your eye made me shiver? and we are running, she is leading and i am following, following wherever she decides to take me, lead me, and the fog gets thicker and soon my legs grow weary, my heart aches, and i bring my hand to wipe my face to find it empty...
