what if there are soulmates? you aren't necessarily destined to meet in this lifetime. you don't know if you will meet in thei lifetime. you may have already, but you don't know. what happens when you get married, and that other person isn't your soulmate. is that settling? what if you've loved many people throughout your life, someday, you do eventually marry someone and settle down. do you end up with the best person? that's how it's supposed to work, isn't it? you date lots of people, figure out what you like, then when you eventually find it, spend the rest of your life with that person. pretty simple. about as simple as soulmates.
