Leaving Las Vegas. It's such a good movie. I wonder why because it's so depressing. For me, the better movies are the ones that touch the soul, so to speak, that speak to individuals, that hold a mirror that you see into yourself. like what someone else told Tom Hanks, all the good movies, the good stories, are about lonilness, about individuals, about seeing someone else like you. And that's what Leaving Las Vegas does for me. I see myself in one of the characters. A couple times I have felt the same way, kind of been in the same situation. not really, but emotionally, or metaphysically or something. But i wept during this movie. Wept. not cried, but wept. It's so hauntingly beautiful. Even better watching it at home. About two years ago was the first time I watched it. two years ago. within a week. Figures. It's just good.
