Wedding Receptions. I've always been weird about tradition. I like
some, and others I just hate. There just isn't any consistency. I like
the traditions I like because they are traditions. But others, I just
can't stand. Like the Chicken Dance at weddings. Why? Why do they
play this song, and get everyone to gather around to make funny movements
with their hands, move their arms, and wiggle their bottoms, to this
song that doesn't even sound good. Why? I just don't get it. I know
that I don't want to have the chicken song played at my wedding reception,
if i ever get to have one, but it will get played anyway, somehow, in
some way. I think it's a self perpetuating thing, someone maybe takes
over the DJ's mind and makes him play it. But to get around this you
hire a band instead for the wedding reception. Then make sure they have
no idea what the chicken song is and you are golden. And somehow I thought
that going to a wedding of a classmate would mean lots of people my age,
but that's not true at all. Wedding is more family than friends, at least
I think so, or at least I've seen. I can't even imagine being on the
other side of this coin, being one of the older folk watching those young
kids at a wedding. |
