cold, not warm and inviting, not like the fire roaring in the fireplace, or a beach during a sunset, the rocks after some emotional turmoil, cold, not quite warm. open the door, but not to strangers, don't let them in, they could steal something, even if they were in there before. They were probably just checking things out, wondering if something was good enough to steal, memorizing easy ways in and out, checking locks on doors, strength of windows. look through the peephole before you open the door, ask who's there, and don't open unless you see id, cause something bad might just happen
