gun control. the extremes, everyone can conceal carry vs. no one has guns. Mutually Assured Destruction vs. only the bad guys with the method and the means to arm themselves outside of the system. MAD just seems like a foolish game. If everyone's armed, bad people will be less likely to do violence. True? I think that wouldn't stop the true psychopaths. Assume there will always be bad people. Assault Weapon Ban? I don't like that halfway approach. Would it work? Probably. But not consistent enough for me. I lean towards no guns. An armed populace scares me. Just like when I did a twitter search for tweets near me at home. Imagine if all those people also had guns? What if the teachers at Newton had guns? Guys goes in, shoots up a classroom, which of those teachers, teachers of kids, would then grab their gun and then shoot the guy? which of them would leave their students? Which one of any on break, would then go into a room where gunshots were fired? Maybe it's so foreign a concept to me, to engage an attacker. So the attacker either doesn't attack because he knows there's guns and possibly an armed response to a particular location, and would choose one that's less protected, and if everyone is armed, that leaves no where. Or the attacker doesn't reason that much, and attacks anyway. Then it's up the weapons holders to defend themselves and others. Kids would probably die anyway, but maybe fewer kids. Or attacker doesn't have a gun, and tries killing with a knife. Or a samurai sword. Or rents a giant U-Haul moving van or a cement truck and drives it through the wall. Without access to a weapon, they find another one. i don't know. I'd still lean towards a total gun ban, but would definitely take a while to get more guns away. What's the legality of forming militias? Could my neighborhood form one, designate a home as the armory, and keep all the guns there? So then you wouldn't have personally owned guns. Ugh. Stuff I don't want to think about.
