hope. excitement. energy. a rallying cry. a rally, turn your hats inside out, wave your towels in the air, sit on the program, whatever, you get excited, you get enthused, you start doing something, thinking it'll have an effect, thinking you can actually make a difference. the change between observer to participant, even if the participation is not real, of no impact, that still changes the process. it gives something back, when enough people do it, to feel it from the stands, instead of the people just wanting to be seen, to just hang out with friends, to just be out, because it's the thing to do. involvement, involuntary, by choice, because of a draw, because of an investment, that's what makes it special. that's what makes it different. yes we can.
