weekend of guys, at home, friends from college, in my basement, once the sacred home of friends from high school, trend continues onto college, realizations set in, by a fire, seeing stars i had never seen before, curled on the ground, watching the embers, burning red hot, white, leaving nothing but ashes behind, reminiscing, four years, used to be four years, different four years, junior year four years, post reggae fest, case, liz and me, jump to rocks, finding a good place to sit, a seat, recliner, watching filament burn, thousands of yards, burning, recognizing the fire that continues to burn, the embers that don't go out, allowed to smolder, the fire that forges tools to make a house, the fire that burns that very house to the ground, that continues to burn, that continues to flare up, that heats the ground, that cooks my meals, boils the water agitating the surface, yet i was cold, jump back to october years ago, remembering what i said, remember, knowing, it's still true, realizing, energizing, vital, life, burning, flaring, heat and fury, source of life and cooker of meat, fire, my fire, mine, a life to live, renewal, a phoenix reborn, again, from the rocks of the lake, wings spread poised for flight,
