from ihnatko on kindle kindle, hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, always on, always connected, paper like information service and device, like those futuristic newspapers that update automatically, yes, the future is here, the future is now, it's just not flashy. the ambient devices, always connected, displaying information, always displaying information. 700MHz. true ubiquitous computing and networking. every device, everything, connected, just a matter of dealing with the information, and information terminals. kindle, instead of public phones, public kindles, to sit and read up to date information. but where's the money? not in the service, not in the advertising, maybe in the advertising, in the devices themselves? in taking a cut of the activity that occurs on the network itself? how does that work? cheap, everywhere internet, take a tiny percentage of things bought this way, services consumed over this network, but then keeping track, knowing if traffic comes through or on, or let the consumer become the network, consumer meshes. either way, 5 years, the future finally could be around.
